Headline History

Our Bearded Collie journey began in 1978 when my husband, Arv, and I attended the Golden Gate Kennel Club’s AKC show in San Francisco, where we also worked in the newspaper industry. GGKC was the largest 2 day dog show in Northern California and being a benched show meant we could look at all the entries and talk to their owners/breeders to learn more about the breeds. Well, one look at a shaggy new breed was all it took to melt our hearts when we saw the Bearded Collies.

Shortly after we were lucky enough to find a local breeder, Melita BC, who had a brown baby girl available who came home with us. Bonnie was our first Beardie and our first baby and man did we learn a lot from our new family member!

Headline Bearded Collies officially began in 1991 with Piper, our foundation bitch from Aellen Bearded Collies. After she earned her AKC Championship and was Herding Instinct Certfied, we began a new journey when Piper whelped our first Headline litter. From this breeding to BISS CH Willowmead Summer Magic ROMX, we were blessed with Page, CH Headline’s Front Page News, HT, who was our head reporter for over 16 years!
